24/7 Security Limited (“we”, “us”) provides CCTV, alarm and gate automation systems in Whakatane and across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
Who we are
24/7 Security Limited, 3 Rata Street, Whakatane 3120, New Zealand. Phone 07 307 0110. Email info@24-7.co.nz. We are licensed by the Ministry of Justice under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act (PSPLA 22-094805) and are a member of the New Zealand Security Association.
What we collect
- Contact and account details such as your name, phone number, email address and the address of the site we are working on.
- Site and system information such as equipment installed, camera positions, network details, user accounts, alarm codes and service history. Some of this is necessarily sensitive, and we treat it that way.
- Enquiry details you provide through our contact form, by phone or by email.
- Website usage information such as pages visited and general location, collected through Google Analytics. This is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
CCTV footage
Where we install, maintain or support a CCTV system, we may need access to that system and to recorded footage in order to configure it, diagnose faults or assist you.
- We access client systems and footage only where it is necessary to carry out work you have asked us to do, or with your authorisation.
- We do not monitor client cameras for our own purposes, and we do not retain copies of client footage except where you have asked us to host or store it as part of a service.
- Footage held on our hosted servers is kept only for the retention period agreed with you, and is deleted when that period expires or when the service ends.
- Where you operate a CCTV system, you are the agency responsible for that footage under the Privacy Act. We can advise on good practice such as signage and retention, but the obligations sit with you as the system owner.
Why we collect it
To quote for and carry out work, to supply and support systems, to provide maintenance and remote assistance, to invoice you, to meet our obligations as a licensed security provider, and to respond to your enquiries.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where it is necessary, for example with manufacturers or suppliers for warranty claims, with subcontracted installers working on your site, with our accountant, or where we are required to by law. Anyone we share information with is expected to protect it to the same standard we do.
Storage and security
Information is stored on systems we control and on reputable third-party services. Access to client system details and any hosted footage is restricted to staff who need it to do their work. We take reasonable steps to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, though no system can be guaranteed completely secure.
How long we keep it
We keep client and job records for as long as we have a business relationship with you, and afterwards for as long as we are required to for legal, tax and warranty purposes. Hosted footage is kept only for the agreed retention period.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us at info@24-7.co.nz or 07 307 0110 and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within the timeframes set by the Privacy Act.
Cookies and website analytics
This website uses cookies to make it work properly and to understand how visitors use it, through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Complaints
If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
